Thrush

What is it?

Is not a Sexually Transmitted infection but can be passed between partners during sex.

Thrush is a yeast infection, usually caused by a yeast-like fungus called Candida albicans. Vaginal thrush isn't a sexually transmitted infection but it can sometimes be passed on during sex. 

What are the symptoms?

There are a number of symptoms people may experience including vaginal discharge, although this isn't always present; the discharge is usually odourless and it can be thin and watery or thick and white like cottage cheese. You may also experience itching and soreness around the entrance of the vagina, pain during sex and a stinging sensation when you urinate.

How is it treated?

A short course of anti-thrush medicine is recommended however if symptoms persist book an appointment online or visit your GP.
